Since breaking into the scene back in 2017 with her ‘Passionfruit Summers’ project, she’s been on a rise, steadily dropping music consistently and making a name for herself.

Earlier this year, she released ‘Leave Me Alone’, the lead single from her upcoming sophomore EP, ‘The Angel You Don’t Know’. Blessed with a sweet soothing voice and the ability to channel her feelings through her lyrics, Amaarae is one of the forerunners of the new generation of African acts.

‘Fancy’ is a powerful anthem for black women, with Amaarae looking to inspire the women to keep their heads high regardless of the obstacles they come across. “Fancy is a bad bitch record – it’s that joint that you put on when you’re getting ready to go out, when you’re getting ready to ace that exam, to ask for that promotion, do that job interview, go on that date that you know you are about to dress to kill for! It’s for the BOSS BITCHES.”

Coupled with the release of the single, Amaarae also releases the video for ‘Fancy’ which was directed by David Nicosley. The video was shot in Ghana, Amaarae’s home country.
