A little less than a year and a half since the debut of its first season, Gerard Way’s The Umbrella Academy is returning to Netflix, announcing the release date of its second season.

The news was presented by a handful of the show’s cast members, who were all on a Zoom call dancing in true social distancing fashion, before revealing the arrival date for the upcoming second season: July 31. Many of the first season’s cast members —including Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Tom Hopper, Cameron Britton, David Castañeda, and Aidan Gallagher — will be reprising their roles. Returning to the production team will also be executive producer and showrunner Steve Blackment, alongside other EPs Gerard Way, Jeff F. King, Keith Goldberg, and Gabriel Bá.
