Arsenal Mesut Ozil has announced his retirement from international football. The Germany midfielder made the announcement on Sunday evening due  “racism and disrespect” following his high-profile and controversial meeting with Turkish president Erdogan with Fellow country man Iikay Gundogan before the Russia 2018 FiFA World Cup.

The 29-year-old World Cup winner earned 92 caps for The champions , scoring 23 times in a nine-year career.  Ozil felt that he was being badly treated by the German Football Association and that he had lost the ambition to play for his country as he stated that he “no longer wants to wear the German national team shirt”.
