Hidemi Nishida has now unveiled its latest large-scale art project. Situated on a picturesque lake on the island of Hokkaido, “Fragile Chairs” combines everyday manmade objects — in this case, the eponymous chairs — with the natural environment, creating a work that is both disarming and eerily beautiful.

“Fragile Chairs” follows “Fragile Shelter” and “Fragile Table,” works installed variously at serene locations around the world, and — according to Nishida — the temporary installation was created with a view to challenging preconceptions about the way in which we perceive and interact with our environment.
