Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been named as Arsenal’s new club captain.
The 30-year-old striker and talisman takes over the armband from Grant Xhaka on a permanent basis, this is following the midfielder’s outburst during the club’s 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace late last month where he was substituted and the fans made their negative feelings towards him known and he responded by taunting the fans and taking off his jersey before storming down the tunnel
Aubameyang found the back of the net in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at home to Wolves past weekend while donning the armband before being made the permanent captain, which is a great sign of things to come
Aubameyang has scored nine goals in 13 appearances across all competitions this season. His goal against Wolves on Saturday was his 50th for the club in just 78 appearances since his move from Borussia Dortmund.
