Rwanda’s western side is bounded by Lake Kivu, one of a string of huge freshwater lakes which lie along Africa’s Great Rift Valley. Dominating the border between Rwanda and the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo); Lake Kivu is Rwanda’s largest lake, and the sixth largest lake in Africa. Every corner produces another gorgeous view. Eucalyptus trees line the road, while every inch of the hills seems to be terraced with bananas. Villagers smile and wave, and children constantly call out “Abuzungu!” as you drive past (the Kinyarwanda term for white people, like “Muzungu” in Swahili). You’ll end up with hands tired from waving, and feel like royalty at the end of the trip.
The Nyungwe rainforest is probably the best preserved montane rainforest in Central Africa. It is located in the watershed between the basin of the river Congo to the west and the basin of the river Nile to the east. From the east side of the Nyungwe forest comes also one of the branches of the Nile sources. The Nyungwe covers an area of approximately 970 km2 of rainforest, bamboo, grassland, swamps, and bogs.
Nyungwe Forest captivates tourists with its large concentration of primates such as Colobus monkeys and Chimpanzees. With numerous wildlife and attractions scattered around the forest, Nyungwe National Park is a place to be.
The Gorilla Naming Ceremony
The birth of a baby is considered a momentous occasion in Rwanda, with each newborn presented to the public amongst a tummult of happiness and praise. And this tradition even extends to gorillas. For an experience unlike any other, attend the Kwita Izina, the Gorilla Naming Ceremony, a country-wide event where baby gorillas are introduced to the local communities, formally named and celebrated. The event is extremely popular, with gala balls held in honor of the ceremony throughout the country, and in recent times an increasing number of conservationists and celebrities have supported the celebration, and the strong importance it places on respecting, appreciating and monitoring wild animals.
Rwanda is one of the countries that produce tea in Africa. Covering hectares of land are tea vegetation, rich greenery – plenty of lush green plantations. Rwanda is famous for its quality of tea along with the natural beauty of the tea garden and surroundings. Enormously found Rwanda’s slopes and caustic soils of highland region, with pleasant climate which makes it easy for plantation growth. This is also a great spot for sight seeing.
Spanning on a 160sqkm area in the northern part of Ruanda, Volcanoes national park is the oldest national park in Africa.

The Kigali Convention Center Is a world beater, inspired by the king’s bee hive-shaped Palace in Nyanza. The view at night is overwhelmingly attractive, with a transparent design that lets you enjoy the view, even from afar.
